We cannot say enough positive, glowing, heart-warming, impressive and thoroughly beautiful things about Leslie Urso and her beloved Creme of the Crop Dachshunds!! Our journey together started two years ago when I called her wanting to find out some information on these incredibly unique and special doxies. She was so knowledgeable, helpful, warm, and enthusiastic. We talked a long time and I learned all about this breed, and it quickly became obvious how lovingly and fastidiously she raises and cares for these babies. She clearly considers each and every one of them a part of her family, and immediately I felt privileged and honored to be able to become a part of that.

She patiently answered all of my questions and entertained me with stories about all of the assorted parents, pups, pairings, personalities, not to mention the entire waitlist/adoption process. I knew right away that this would be a long-term relationship and not just a one-off quick transaction! That’s exactly what I was looking for in searching for a new puppy. I was not in any hurry; I wanted to make sure we could get the right pup at the right time and that we truly got to know the breeder behind the puppy.

Over the course of the next couple of years (wow! years!) we chatted and kept in touch on the progress of our mommy and daddy’s mating…. We learned so very much about the whole breeding process. We loved how we could access the nursery cams and actually witness the whole beautiful process of bringing these babies into the world and the very loving and special care that this requires. For a breeder to include you in this process is not only fascinating but was soooo critical in the deep bonding that developed for us way before we eventually met our new baby pup. (Now I can’t even IMAGINE not intimately “knowing” our pet’s mom and how she cared for her babies and truly prepared her for us!) This seems to be another unique quality about Creme of the Crop… the idea of presenting a wholistic and detailed context in order to truly appreciate and understand our new baby. We really love that.
Because of all this preparation and involvement, by the time our pup was born we truly felt like family….and that a dear friend was entrusting us with one of her babies! We loved that Leslie made sure it was us who picked her up in Texas and did everything possible to ensure a stress-free transition for the baby. What a pleasure to be welcomed in to her immaculate and beautiful home. She prepared us for everything and went above and beyond patiently explaining it all. We have had several dogs before, but a new puppy always feels like a new adventure (we forgot so much!!!) and she could not have been more thorough and detailed in all the very many things we needed to do to make this a beautiful experience. And indeed… it was!
Our Chicken is now growing into a healthy, thriving, loving, playful and truly beautiful little girl, and the whole process was not only a pleasure, but a huge learning experience. Leslie is always a phone call or text away from any question, concern, or silly little story that I want to share!

And now, we are excited to be welcoming our second Creme of the Crop pup into our home as a younger brother to our precious and perfect little girl!! We cannot imagine Leslie ever NOT being an important part of their lives and being their very special Texas Godmother!
