Welcome to a new episode of “F4VN”! Today, we find ourselves in an unexpected situation, as both Anne and I are in quarantine. Anne has tested positive for COVID-19, experiencing symptoms such as coughing, headaches, and fatigue. Meanwhile, I am feeling relatively okay with just a minor headache. With Anne needing a sick leave certificate, we underestimated the challenges of obtaining health insurance while living in a van in Mallorca.
The German bureaucracy proved to be quite a hurdle. Thankfully, our doctor was understanding of our lifestyle and work situation. However, the nurse initially struggled to comprehend our circumstances. Eventually, we managed to obtain the necessary documentation, but not without encountering a doctor who expressed strong negative opinions about vaccinations. It was disheartening to hear such unprofessional comments directed at Anne, especially considering her vulnerable state. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it is important for healthcare professionals to treat their patients with respect and empathy.
Despite these challenges, we are determined to make the most of our time in quarantine. While Anne rests, I have been browsing through Readly, an amazing app that offers a wide range of magazines in various genres. It’s like having a Spotify for magazines! From travel to cooking, there is something for everyone. The great thing is that one account can be used on up to 5 different devices, allowing us to indulge in our favorite reads simultaneously.
As we navigate this quarantine period, we are also mindful of adhering to the regulations in Spain. We have reported our situation to the authorities and are following the necessary isolation period of ten days. As long as Anne’s symptoms subside after this period, we will not require further testing. On the other hand, I am not required to isolate since I have tested negative, show no symptoms, and have been vaccinated. However, for our safety, I am voluntarily joining Anne in quarantine.
In the meantime, we continue to find ways to pass the time and take care of ourselves. We prioritize rest, nourishing meals, and staying hydrated. It’s important to boost our immune systems and maintain a positive mindset during this challenging time. We appreciate all the name suggestions we received for our van, and after a careful selection process, we have decided to name it “Pablo”. Thank you all for your wonderful ideas!
